Benefits of Membership

Boundary District Arts Council (BDAC) provides Member Groups with:

1) Financial support in the form of an annual grant

2) Online presence at www.boundaryarts.org – Member Group descriptions and event photo publicity

Groups participate in BDAC Governance and the guidance/creation of BDAC special programming, which historically has included   ‘Arts Week‘  and the Performance Series

Annual Group Membership fees are $20.00

Group Responsibilities & Qualifications for Member Group Grants:

Groups may join BDAC at anytime. For Grant Qualification, Member Dues must be paid by September of the current year. Member Groups in Good Standing may apply for a grant the following year. Grants are awarded in June of the following year based on:

1. “Good Standing” is Group Membership for one year (September– September).

2. Group Member representation (by any group member) at all five (5) Member Group Meetings plus AGM attendance. At Member Group meetings, Group representatives read and submit brief oral and written reports of Group activities and upcoming events.

2016-2107 Meeting Dates are held at 6:30 p.m. at Boundary Women’s Resource Centre, 268 Market Ave. Grand Forks, BC:

  1. September 19, 2016– regular meeting
  2. November 3, 2016 – AGM
  3.  February 20, 2017
  4. April 3, 2017
  5. May 15, 2017
  6. June 12, 2017

3. Direct Group participation in BDAC activities by means of:

During Arts Week:

  • Participate either at the Performance Gala or at the Gallery 2 reception or by doing demonstrations for the school tours at Gallery 2
  • Supply an appetizer and put something into the showcase of the arts at Gallery 2 (this can be a display if that fits the group)

Throughout the Year: 

Member Groups are to provide 10 hours of volunteer time to the Arts Council (outside of the above requirements) Some places you could decide to volunteer are:

  • ticket sales for Performance Series performances
  • putting up posters
  • School tours during Arts Week
  • Phone committee
  • executive
  • writing grants

Note:    If the group does more than the “requirements” during arts week if that would count for their volunteer time. Also if groups organized               Arts week functions in other parts of the Boundary if that would count towards volunteer hours.

4. Acknowledgement of BDAC funders (the BC Arts Council and  the City of Grand Forks) by displaying their logos on all advertising and programs of Member Group events. Copies of those logos can be obtained upon request.

Grant Distribution Formula for Member Groups in Good Standing:

1. Group representation at Annual AGM and all five (5) Group Membership meetings.

3. Group activities and events that represent Arts in the Boundary

4. Presentation of oral and written reports, at each of the five (5) Membership Meetings, documenting Member Group activities and events that promote Arts in the Boundary

5. Input and feedback of organizational goals for BDAC at Member Meetings, the AGM, to the Board, and to BDAC Committees

The BC Arts Council provides BDAC with “basic grant” funding and “government matching” funds. BDAC may use these funds, on a discretionary basis, to fund annual GRANTS to qualifying Member Groups. GRANTS may vary according to availability of monies from BC Arts Council, and according to Member Group participation, as required in BDAC’s Constitution (as outlined above).
