Moody Quilters

About a decade ago, the Christina Lake Health-Care Auxiliary decided to make a raffle quilt in support of Boundary Hospital so 9 members met weekly in Lynne Hanson’s basement for 3 months to complete the project. By this time the group had grown to 17 and a new meeting place was needed.

Space at Moody Creek Estates community hall was rented and the name Moody Quilters was chosen. Since then they have shared knowledge and skills with each other, brought in others with specialized skills to teach, and also held 12 week beginner quilt classes for new members.

As a Guild, they hold biannual Quilt Shows and teas to display their work to the public at large, and yearly they participate in a gathering of guilds from throughout the West Kootenays … a sharing of traditional quilting and textile art. In all of this Moody Quilters continues to be a vibrant contributor to the arts in the region.
